Student Access

If you are an ICICS-affiliated student with a lab or office in the ICICS building and require fob/card access to the building, please do the following:

  1. Obtain an access token. Students who have an iClass-enabled UBCcard should use it as their access token. UBCcards are issued by the UBC Carding Office in the UBC Bookstore. Persons who do not have a UBCcard (such as postdocs, visitors, and students with older ID cards) should obtain a dedicated fob. To obtain a fob, please visit ECE Stores in MacLeod 112B with your UBC or government-issued photographic identification (e.g., passport or driver’s license). A cash deposit of $20.00 is required, to be refunded when you return your fob.

  2. Have your supervisor send an email to access@icics.ubc.ca with your ID number, role name and the specific dates for which you require access. Once fob/card access has been granted, it will take approximately 4 hours for activation to take effect.

If your access has expired

If your access has expired, have your supervisor send an email to access@icics.ubc.ca with your ID number, role name and the specific dates for which you require access.

If your fob/card is not working correctly

If your fob/card is not working correctly, send an email to access@icics.ubc.ca detailing your concerns and we will respond as soon as possible.
