Welcome from the Director

Supporting multidisciplinary research collaborations in advanced technology systems has always been at the core of ICICS’ activities. Now in our fourth decade, ICICS is working to amplify the impact of our members’ research, by identifying and supporting multidisciplinary research teams in areas of strength. We have also developed programs and mechanisms to ensure our members’ research outcomes are translated to society, through licensing by industry, uptake by the general user, and/or incorporation into policy, standards, and educational programs. For our more entrepreneurially minded members, graduate students, recent alumni, and staff, we have established the HATCH Venture Builder (“HATCH”) in the ICICS building, in collaboration with entrepreneurship@UBC (e@UBC) and the Sauder School of Business. HATCH companies are generating significant attention from investors and large corporations.

ICICS plays a central role in advancing UBC’s research-to-innovation pipeline. I welcome your input on how we may strengthen this role.
