Membership Guidelines

There are two levels of ICICS membership, full and associate, depending on the member’s ability to participate in ICICS collaborations/activities. For example, it may be more appropriate for an applicant from another university or outside research/industrial organization to be an associate member than a full member.

Full Members:

  • Are normally UBC faculty members who wish to actively collaborate with other ICICS members
  • Are willing to commit a minimum of 5 hours/year to supporting ICICS activities (committees, workshop organization/presentation, review of ICICS-initiated grant applications, feedback regarding ICICS initiatives as requested, recommendations regarding feasibility of HATCH venture technologies, etc.)
  • Are willing to contribute resources from grants, contracts, etc., to the continued operation of ICICS infrastructure relevant to the member
  • May sponsor researchers to become ICICS members
  • Have access to ICICS shared labs and equipment
  • May sponsor students and research staff under their supervision for access to ICICS programs/facilities
  • Are responsible for other ICICS members they sponsor, as well as students and research staff who have access to ICICS programs/facilities through their membership
  • Are eligible for seed funding for team-based grant applications, when available
  • May participate in ICICS-initiated grant applications, symposia, workshops, etc.
  • Are eligible for specific ICICS member support programs
  • Renew membership every five years

Associate Members:

  • Are often active ICICS collaborators from other universities or external research/industrial organizations, or are UBC faculty members who are less able to participate in ICICS collaborations/activities than full members
  • Are willing to commit a minimum of 3 hours/year to supporting ICICS activities (committees, workshop organization/presentation, review of ICICS-initiated grant applications, feedback regarding ICICS initiatives as requested, recommendations regarding feasibility of HATCH venture technologies, etc.)
  • Have access to ICICS shared labs and equipment through their sponsor
  • May sponsor students and research staff under their supervision for access to ICICS facilities
  • May participate in ICICS-initiated grant applications, symposia, workshops, etc.
  • Renew membership every two years

Access to ICICS resources is granted at the discretion of the ICICS Director.
