Former ICICS Director Rabab Ward Elected to U.S. National Academy of Engineering

Dr. Rabab Ward, Professor Emerita in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elected as a Foreign Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering. Professor Ward is one of only 18 new international members elected in 2020. Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.  Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to “engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature” and to “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.”

Professor Ward was  elected for her innovative applications of signal processing to industrial and bioengineering problems. She was also ICICS Director from 1996-2006 and drove a significiant expansion to ICICS membership and infrastructure, including construction of the 8-storey X-wing. Congratulations, Rabab!
