ICICS co-hosts Future Communications Systems and Multimedia Workshop

On Friday April 1, 2016, ICICS co-hosted, along with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Vancouver section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a full-day workshop on “Smart Connectivity”. The workshop launched with a keynote address on “5G Network Architecture and Technology Innovations” by Shilpa Talwar, Director of Wireless Multicomm Systems in the Wireless Communications Laboratory, Intel. The afternoon session began with a second keynote address, on “Grid Modernization”, delivered by Vidya Vankayala, Director, Smart Utilities, Powertech Labs.

A 100-plus audience of industry personnel, faculty, students, government representatives, and the general public was educated on a range of topics related to smart connectivity by seven different industry speakers. Students had a chance to present their work during a lunchtime poster session.

The workshop was chaired by ECE Professor Lutz Lampe, with logistical and financial support from ICICS. Further details, including the Technical Program, can be found on the workshop website.
