PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering Amirhossein Omidvar has won the Award for Excellence in Microsystems Fabrication at TEXPO 2022 in Quebec City. Established by CMC Microsystems, TEXPO offers graduate students in Canada’s National Design Network® (CNDN) a unique opportunity to demonstrate their novel applications of micro-nano technologies to industry representatives and academic peers.
Omidvar, who is supervised by Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Edmond Cretu, won for the project FlexCMUT, a Flexible Polymer-based Micromachined Ultrasound Array for Conformal Imaging. This work builds on innovations in ultrasound transducer technology pioneered at UBC. The award is sponsored by TELEDYNE MEMS.
